Discuss character development on X-Men comic
Assignment: If you choose a character that has developed in an earlier time period (say the Golden Age) and
still exists/ thrives in a different later age, I want you to argue what the major factor in that character’s evolution
is or isn’t. Some characters, arguably, don’t change very much at all… and somehow bend the zeitgeist around
them to make them timeless. Other characters change and evolve like it was their actual character (See: The
High Evolutionary… whose job it is to evolve. How has this character or team evolved to stay palpable across
time? How has this character led to new character’s development (See, for example, how the old Charltonverse Question is pretty much Alan Moore’s Rorschach almost to a T.)? And so on. My points:
In the specific comic I have, X-Men Chronicles Here Now: The Dawn of Apocalypse, there is a big battle on the
cover and only Wolverine, Magneto, and Sabertooth (he didnt even speak) made it to the X-Men movies. I
think this is development. The other point I have is Wolverine is way more savage in the comics, he kills for
fun, and is more machine like. He would make Hugh Jackman look like a kitten not a Wolverine. Please focus
on the development of the comics vs the movies going more family friendly rather than the target audience of
superhero comics.
