Diabetes in Chronic Kidney Disease –>this is complex, so to help clarify your thought process, your concept
map should include what you would teach your patient and their families.
Map should include:
-basic pathophysiology for the patient
-discuss their diet (would you change the diet for acute kidney injury? would you change their diet for chronic
kidney injury > CKD3?); think about electrolytes
- hypo and hyperglycemic interventions (recommendations to avoid both extremes)
- and implications with hemodialysis (think about dialysis days and how it may affect your patient with diabetes;
should their diet change? how to encourage compliance with dietary restrictions )
