Carol loved Margo’s new Gucci handbag. Carol could not afford her own Gucci handbag so she decided to
steal Margo’s. One day when Margo was walking to her car with the handbag, Carol came up behind Margo to
try to grab her handbag. Margo fought back and said, “I won’t let you take my bag. I love this bag!” Carol then
pushed Margo to the ground where Margo fell and injured her arm. Carol ran away with the bag. What crime(s)
would Carol be charged with?

convicted with recklessly selling pornographic videos to a minor. Although Tomaino did not in fact sell the

4) List and describe three different types of “inchoate” offenses.
5) a) People v. Kimball. As discussed in our class, here, James Kimball, defendant, was charged with and
convicted of attempted unarmed robbery. Based on the elements of attempt, do you think James Kimball
should be found guilty of attempted unarmed robbery? If yes or no, explain your reasoning using and going
through each of the elements of attempt and then formulating a decision.
b) What was James Kimball’s defense? Do you agree or disagree with this? Explain your reasoning.
6) Lauren and Samantha decide that they do not like Samantha’s boyfriend whose name is Doc. Lauren has on
numerous occasions seen Doc out at the bars flirting with numerous women. One night, Lauren even saw Doc
kissing another woman. Lauren informed Samantha of Doc’s whereabouts. Lauren and Samantha, in
agreement, decided and planned that they were going to poison Doc the night of his 30th birthday.
a) What crime(s) could Lauren and Samantha be charged with?
b) To convict an individual, there are different levels of proof which are required depending on whether it is a
civil matter or a criminal matter. If taken to a court of law, name the legal standard/level of proof by which the
prosecutor would have to prove each element of the crime charged in order to convict Lauren and Samantha.
7) What crime does the law consider to be “the most serious of all crimes?”
8) Name the type of rape which is considered “nonconsensual sex between dates, lovers, neighbors, coworkers, employers and so on.”
9) Under the law of rape, name this rule. This rule bans introducing evidence of a victim’s past sexual conduct
or history. Do you agree or disagree with this rule? If yes or no, why do you think so?
