For your final paper, you may analyze any work of fiction (short story, poem, novel, or play), using support from outside sources. You are welcome to write about a story or poem that we have read together as a class, but you must choose a work that you have not previously analyzed this semester.
You may also choose to focus your final paper on an author or poet, but you still must include an element of literary analysis. In other words, if you decide to research and write about an author, you should work to show the connection between the author’s life and their work; examine how the author’s fiction or poetry was inspired by his or her life experiences.
