Learning Outcome 5a: Describe the significance and value of the major in meeting the needs of global community.
Develop and articulate a statement of values or code of ethics related to the major that reflects one’s respect for different ideas, peoples and cultures, and an understanding of the responsible uses of technology.
For 5a, I’m not looking for you to write a personal value statement, but I want you to discuss how your coursework impacted your personal/professional values and ethics – the Healthcare Ethics course is an obvious choice here
Learning Outcome Papers – Due Weeks 1-4: Please be sure to review the template, the assignment requirements and check out the sample papers provided in the course to help you with formatting and content requirements. The learning outcome papers are not necessarily research papers (although there might be some outside research in them), but learning application papers – I want to know what you learned in your courses that helped you to meet the objective of the major. The learning outcomes that you are basing your papers on are the ones developed by the university for your major – you should have seen these when you developed your academic plan with your adviser. Please note the following as you work on the assignments: – Be sure to follow the template that is found in the course (in Weekly Materials, click on Information and Materials). Be sure to follow all the template guidelines, especially #3 and #4; you must relate your coursework to the learning objective and you must be specific – what activities and assignments did you complete in the course that helped you learn and apply the information? These elements are important and a big portion of the grade for the assignments. I’m also looking for supporting information (citations and references), either from a related textbook or a reputable outside source if you no longer have your textbook. Whether or not you have the original assignment to attach to your submission, be sure that you provide sufficient detail in your paper about your coursework. For example, if the learning outcome is about human resources, write about specific activities or assignments you completed in your HR course (” in HR for Health Care, we had to interview an HR Director. In my interview…”). I want to see that you have directly related what you did in class to the outcome and your work. You should be able to access all of your previous online courses with their related assignments Also, please remember the following as you write your papers: – Always include citations and references, and be sure to use APA style for both references as well other formatting in your work. – It’s okay to write in first person for these assignments.
