2. Summaryof planned/completedactivities:
I was focused to prepare for in-service which is next week power point presentation for chemotherapy carded nurse for nurse providing oncology patient education. My preceptor who is working for oncology nurse for 30 years of experiences. When she came in this facility, there’s no chemotherapy carded nurses but now they have a 9 inpatient and 3 outpatient chemotherapy carded nurse. She accomplished many things such as writing a polices of chemotherapy procedure and protocols, implemented chemotherapy PPE, education, navigator for oncology patients, many things but she and me think that, as a chemotherapy carded nurse not able to provide patient education, such as what’s the name of medications, what to expect of side effects during and after chemotherapy, self-management so and so forth. As a nurse or health care provider, we always provide education to the patient to better outcomes.

I was reviewing of chemotherapy order sets with my preceptor. We noticed that order sets were incomplete. Anything comes with medication order has to be perfect because dealing with patient’s life but chemotherapy medication is high risk so more complicated and has to be perfect before begin with chemotherapy. Also, that medication specially, patient’s heart function had to be done before chemotherapy because that medication is toxic to the heart. Hopefully, doctor and nurse are very careful to so then patient does get better.
4. Reflectionon yourownlearningfortheweekandimplicationsforyour nursingpractice:
As a nurse, we always received order from doctors constantly telephone, verbal, and written orders. I going to take extra miles to making sure that if I am not sure about orders then do not proceed until for sure.
