You have been appointed as the HR Manager of The Courthouse Hotel, a 250 bedroom Hotel on the outskirts of a large city centre which offers facilities for conferences and business meetings in addition to special events such as weddings.
An analysis of the attendance figures over the last 12 months indicates high levels of unplanned, and sometimes unauthorised absence, often at short notice for which the hotel is unable to arrange cover. This has resulted in an increase in overtime for existing staff particularly on a weekend and an increase in the level of customer complaints.
Write a report to management in which you critically evaluate the tools that The Courthouse could introduce to alleviate the absence problems they currently face.
Your report should include:

• Absence Management strategies including incentives, preventative and punative measures.
