Track 1 – Summary
In this track, Alexander Hamilton is introduced (the face of the ten dollar bill) who was born in St. Croix (the Caribbean). His father left his sick mother and him when Hamilton was ten years old. His mother died soon after. Hamilton worked for his mother’s landlord after her death. Alexander Hamilton is an ambitious and smart young man evidence by his writing skills among other things. He was able to get enough money to board a ship and arrive in New York. “In New York you can be a new man” (“Alexander Hamilton” 2:32-2:46). This track ends with the relationships being introduced that Hamilton made: Mulligan, Madison, Lafayette, Jefferson, Laurens, Philip, Washington, Eliza, Angelica, Peggy, Maria, and Burr.
