  This assignment is intended to understand how our expectation and experience influence what we perceive. First, pick a song (from the link provided) and listen to the song forward. Were you able to understand what the words were? Third, look at the backwards lyrics and listen again. Can you understand the words now that you see the lyrics? Fourth, try a couple of songs! Explain why it was easier to understand the words when you saw the lyrics. How does expectation and past experience affect ability to understand the words. Look at perceptual set on page 135.
