Respond to the final prompt and follow these directions carefully.
•This paper should be no longer than five pages long, excluding bibliography.
Double-space your paper with a font similar to Times New Roman (1" margins).
•Your paper should cite at least five sources from the course readings. Your paper should use the course readings to develop your thesis. Outside sources will not be needed for this paper. Your thesis should be a direct answer to all parts of the midterm prompt, outlining the argument you will be supporting throughout the paper. You should utilize course content to support your thesis and statements. An A paper will have will have well founded arguments.

What characterizes the “root idea” of Chicana/o identity? How does the “root idea” manifest itself as a method of engagement? How does the literature from this course challenge and engage divergence from or betrayal to the “root idea.” Is the “root idea” relevant today? If so, how, if not, why?
