Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

watch the movie " Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1941) Director: Victor Fleming USA (1889-1949) " and then pick up 5 scenes from the movie and related to 5 quotes from "Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) Text: Selections from Freud: A Very Short Introduction Discipline: Psychoanalysis, Philosophy of Human Nature" the structure of the paper should be like this : the quote then explain the quote and pick up a related scene from the movie and finally explain how they are related. do this for the 5 paragraphs. Philosophy 1 “The difference among men becomes manifest not only in the difference between their tablets of good-in the fact that they consider different goods worth striving for and also disagree about what is more and less valuable, about the order the order of rank and the goods they recognize in common- it becomes manifest even more in what they take for really having and possessing something good.” People are different when it comes to possessing a position. There are those who only possess the physical appearance and nothing more. And there are those who question what they possess. The highest among those is the one that can possess him or her-self. We see this through the whole movie Alice in Wonderland, when Alice tried to understand the love of herself and understand her importance, specifically, when she starts saying, it is her dream, and she want to take control over it. 2 “And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” If a person understands a situation very well, but maybe others don’t know the true situation, that person may for knowing what is coming after all. Therefore, sometimes this person will express those feelings through preforming a dance. But because the rest do not understand the reason of dancing, they will think the dancer has lost their mind. At the beginning of the movie, when Alice returned to the people she met, she danced with her feet. They thought that she has lost her mind. However, because they did not witness her experience they thought that she is crazy. In other words, they did not hear the music that she danced to which was victory. 3 “It is hard enough to remember my opinions, without also remembering my reasons for them!” humans may act toward a certain object either negatively or positively, according to their reasons. However, they may forget those reasons which made them react the way they do. Once they forget those reasons they hold on to those feelings even if they are hurtful. When Alice was to untie the rope from the hedgehog, the animal refused to be untied, but she did untie him. He hid from the red queen but stayed at the same place. Even though the place was awful, it felt like home to him. If we question why we love our home, we might not have a clear answer to it. It is our feeling and not our reasons. 4 “What does not destroy me, makes me strong.” It is pretty much self-explanatory, but to make it clearer, we know that if a person is infected with a virus or bacteria, this person will develop a defense system to defeat the attacker. If the person survives this attack, one would keep that developed defense system, which will always protect the person from the same attacker, making the attacked stronger. This is seen in the movie when Alice was injured by the beast; however, when the beast saw the wounds, he licked them. He became a friend to her and she knew that the beast could be her friend. 5 “Call me whatever you like; I am who I must be.” The nicknames that people call each other, does not change the fact of who they are or who they should be. A person may have many nicknames, but once they understand who they are and what makes them, those names do not change them at any level. When Alice was told that she was a fake, and she was not the real Alice, she always replied that she was the real Alice and whatever they called her did not matter to her.
