Ethics Jesus and morality

Christianity claims that Jesus is totally unique, unlike any who lived before or after him. What specifically do you see unique in his moral message? How are we to interpret his sayings about "turning the other cheek" and "I tell you to forgive 7 x 70"? Does that mean we are to become pacifists?
