Ethnography

Field Assignment, due 1/22 in class: Observation of limestone walls (2-3 pages) The campus and surrounding streets (7th, 10th, Jordan, 3rd, etc.) have low limestone walls marking fronts of buildings and grass. There are a range of styles. Find examples of 3 different styles and describe/draw them in your notebooks. You can photograph them too but a photograph is not the same thing as a drawing from an observation. Be prepared to discuss the differences between written description and drawing, between those and photographs. This is the basis for our discussion but make a copy of your journal pages to turn in at the end of class.
