History One of the defining aspects of the half millennia of 1000 - 1500 C.E. was the increased cross-cultural interaction between Eurasia and Africa. This augmentation in interactions was witnessed by the growth of trade in the Indian Ocean basin and the Sub-Saharan trade routes. What were the factors that promoted greater trans-continental trade? What ramifications did this have for both Africa and Eurasia? Why is it important in explaining the potential for western dominance that would define the following centuries?
