Mentoring and precepting serve to facilitate a smooth transition by promoting professional socialization. Effective mentorship, which includes role-playing, reflection exercises, and debriefing, allows the transferring nurse to reach his or her full potential in the new workplace (Bellucci & Misher, n.d.).
