Introduction to Human Resources Management
1st Individual Assignment: Current Events in Human Resource Management
The first individual assignment has been created to get you in touch with news and events that have implications for HRM. It will hopefully get you interested in
scanning the media and staying current on HRM issues.
Choose a reputable newspaper (paper or online source). Examples include, but are not limited to, the Globe and Mail, CBC News - Money, Financial Post, Canadian
Business and the National Post. Find a current event news article that appeals to you and has implications for Human Resource Management. The article must be from
within the past 4 months, be at least 4 paragraphs long and have enough "meat" to it that you can summarize the article and analyze the HRM implications using the
topics or subject matter being covered in this course. The article can be at the local, provincial, national or international level. Use the textbook as your resource
when discussing the HRM implications. Be specific and detailed in your analysis and use appropriate concepts and terminology from any chapters of the textbook. Be sure
to include appropriate APA citations for any and all sources used in this assignment including the article and the textbook.
CUT OUT / PRINT OFF the article. If the article is on two separate pages, make sure that you take both pages of the article.
Prepare an essay (maximum 3 pages, double-spaced. The 3 page limit does not include the cover page and works cited page) on the article using the following format:
Cover page with your name, student number, and date of submission
