Literary Response

Response Using journal, you should develop a single-source annotated bibliography AND a paper proposal (each one page). The annotated bibliography should simply cite, summarize, and analyze a scholarly source. The proposal (also in journal) does four things--1) identifies a potential textual problem (point of disagreement) in a work of significant literature; 2) clearly expresses the student's interpretative solution (only a reasonable theory) to the problem in a working thesis; 3) outlines the evidence in support of the interpretive thesis; and 4) explains in a sentence the value of the student's interpretation for other readers. • Writing: After proposing their idea, students should draft their interpretive arguments using the response skills developed earlier in the class (i.e. summary, personal, and analytical/evaluative). The literary response’s introduction should • summarize the primary text in question. It should help the intended audience value the text at hand and • explicitly state the student’s interpretive thesis, • including giving the reader a clear idea of the shape of the paper. In their literary arguments, students should • use textual evidence from the primary work of literature to analyze and interpret it, • responding to at least one compelling, critical counterpoint. In addition to the primary source, secondary sources (4-6) should be lightly integrated into the paper and used effectively throughout. To integrate their primary and secondary sources students should use such skills as direct quotation, paraphrase, and summary. Sources ought to be clearly introduced, wisely used, and frequently applied to the thesis. In addition to these requirements, students may consider experimenting with footnotes/endnotes and visuals or other conventional characteristics of academic writing. Format : he Literary Response should run 4-6 pages in length (double-spaced). All papers must include a Works Cited page in MLA listing at a minimum 4-6 current and credible sources, ideally including at least one book and one journal article held by, or accessible through, the Tntech library. A formal interview with an expert may substitute for one of the journal articles. Format considerations may also include using subheadings and other structural features. Assessment (Ignore this section): • Purpose statement: This assignment requires students to explicitly situate an argumentative thesis within a larger literary conversation in the introduction of their papers. Also, students are to briefly describe the structure of their papers in the same section. • Organization: This assignment requires students to support their argumentative thesis with three reasonable ideas or premises. In making and supporting these three points, the paper is to incorporate pronounced structural elements such as signal phrases, subheadings, and lists, etc. • Conventions: This assignment requires students to use formal academic language and conventions. They are to consider audience appeals (especially logos), including the likely effect on audience of employing certain words. Their papers should be grammatically correct, syntactically clear, and stylistically forceful. • Sources: This assignment requires students to use a variety of sources, including scholarly sources. They are to effectively integrate scholarly research and other less rigorous material into their argument. They are required to prepare in-text citations and a Works Cited page following MLA. you have to show the agreement and which i disagreement with the journal and with the other sources . also i want to add some thing in format : first page should contain three paragraph a) summary of the story b)summary of scolary journal c)thesis and main idea. second page should contain : analysis and interprotation of lit, and u will spent the hall pages to do what he ask for above. and the last page you have to but the work cites in MLA format.
