Colors should give poster visual harmony. 7) Background should be a solid color or a very subtle gradient. Colors should be muted, subtle. 8) Images and Visuals: include captions when using photos. Don’t use a photo that is too small in size. Don’t take a small resolution photo and enlarge it so that it’s pixelated. Never use a pixelated photo. Images and visuals should complement the text. 9) Use appropriate font sizes for Main Header, Sub-headers, body text, photo captions, charts and graphs, and/or info graphs. 10) Use the “rule of thirds” to compose the elements in your poster board.
