Obesity Death rate in the UAE We chose this topic to show the most common way that causes death in the United Arab Emirates. Since we encounter lots of accidents in the highways; most of which are due to speeding. Death rate is the average annual number of deaths during a year per 1,000 populations at midyear; also known as crude death rate. Age distribution and population are primary aspects of death rate. Fatal injuries are caused primarily by road traffic (62%), followed by injuries due to falls and falling objects (11%), and suicide (8%). Occupational injuries and childhood injuries are accounting for 18.4% and 12.2% of total injury deaths, respectively. Which means that each year deaths due to road traffic injuries is decreasing. The second leading cause is pedestrian so this shows that people crossing the road should be cautious and only cross in instructed areas. Accidents caused by buses, minibuses, pickups and vans, are tied up to 6%. The lowest result for road traffic deaths is bicycle and all-terrain vehicle with an estimate of 1%. The second drops down to 13% with "other". Falling objects and homicide estimate around 8%. While poisoning comes down to the least cause which is around 4%. The total number of death was 1,789 in 2011 and by 2013 the number increased to 2,125. The age group with the highest number of deaths as shown in the graph is 70+ while the lowest is 1-19. In conclusion, the death rate in the UAE has dropped from 2008 to 2013. The total number of injury deaths in 2008 was 623, while in 3013 that number dropped down to 591. Although the number of injury deaths was the lowest in 2012 with a total of 514. The main cause of this decrease is the change in road traffic injuries, which is constantly decreasing throughout the years with a negative correlation coefficient of 0.78. In our opinion, more and more people get educated about the dangers of speeding and texting while driving, etc. Which clearly shows that more awareness is being raised.
