Read Chapter 3 Word Choice, Word Order, and Tone and Chapter 4 Images. PART 1: Answer the Considerations for Critical Thinking and Writing after Olds' "Sex Without Love" on page 91, Keats' "Ode on a Grecian Urn" on page 95, Brooks' "We Real Cool" on page 96 and read the original then 2 translations of Neruda's "Verbo" ("Word") and answer questions on page 105. PART 2: Write a 1-2 page analysis of Jimmy Santiago Baca's "Green Chile" discussing the images within the poem and how they evoke feelings for the speaker and the reader. Use at least 3 lines from the poem to support the claim(s) you are asserting and cite properly. Include a Works Cited page. For extra fun! write your own poem that focuses on a vivid image that is important to you (this will not be graded, per se, but the quality and heart put into it assessed and added to your overall Part 2 grade).
