Short Essay Questions*: Three short essay questions (on exams and/or separate) will be used to assess the General Education component of the course. These will require students to apply class concepts to: 1) –interpret a people’s worldview based on particular cultural practices (empathy); 2) –to interpret intercultural experience from more than one worldview (interconnectedness); and 3) –explore and/or interpret cultural practices of unfamiliar cultures (curiosity). 50 points each Ethnographic Project*: In addition to the Short Essay Questions, each student will participate in and observe a culturally bound practice, and analyze their findings in a three-page paper (cultural self-awareness). 200 points
