Order Description Early Childhood Curriculum Model Report Common assessment Based on discussions and readings on early childhood curriculum models, you will choose ONE of the models to assess based on the guidelines below. Relate your assessment to principles of developmentally appropriate practice that positively influence children’s development. (Refer to class discussions and the early lecture on Developmentally Appropriate Practice). As you reflect on each model, you will include information from class discussions.. Choose one of the following models: Creative curriculum High scope curriculum Montessori preschool Reggio Emilia approach Themed based model Follow the guidelines below 1. You will provide an introduction to your paper. 2. You will provide brief background information on the model. Reflect on who is associated with this model and identify the main focus of the model. (Four to five sentences) sentences). Part A You will assess the model, providing evidence based on the questions outlined below. Reflect on whether the areas are addressed or are not addressed providing reference to the reading. If addressed you will state how it reflects on children’s development. 1.Does this model support a Whole Child Approach? Explain addressing evidence found in the model. 2. Does this model support children’s individual differences and needs? Explain addressing evidence found in the model. 3. Does the model take into consideration providing opportunities for children’s construction of knowledge? (Concepts of active involvement in the learning process). 4. Does the model support a Play Based approach i.e. provide opportunities for children’s freedom of expression, free choice and creativity? 5. Does the model provide opportunities to provide play based experiences and experiences that are meaningful to them? Explain 6. Which theorists’ work does this model seem to support? 7 . Could this model be successfully applied to schools in the UAE. Why or why not? Be prepared to discuss and share concepts addressed in the philosophy with the teacher and the class. Additional guidelines for the report Your report must be approximately 4 to 5 pages, 12 point font, double spaced. References must follow APA reference guide and references must be documented in-text in addition to a reference list to be provided at the end of the report.
