Topic: Ethical Dilemma
Order Description
While this exam is open book, you are not permitted to consult any material other than the course readings and your notes. You are not to discuss your answers with anyone else. Accurately conveying the arguments and concepts from the readings is obviously very important. However, because this exam is open book, your grade will largely be determined based on how appropriately, cleverly, and creatively you use the texts to answer these questions and offer an argument. For each question you have a choice in the texts you can refer to: you should demonstrate breadth but also the ability to discern which texts make sense for which questions. To quote the Schuyler sisters in the musical Hamilton, “I am looking for a mind at work.”
Topic:
Imagine that instead of what I actually have written above, I wrote the following: “This exam is not Open Book. You may not consult your notes or readings.” Would you consult your notes and readings or not? Should you? Justify your answer by offering an ethical argument, and considering the alternatives, derived from relevant concepts in class.
Please use at least 4 of the readings from attached list in writing. No outside sources. Creative project. Important to show that readings were done, so please consider phrasing the readings as "...this author would argue that... I agree/disagree with him"
Consider both the option of consulting notes and readings, and the opposite. I would prefer if the essay is written arguing for using open book (and why it's ethical).
