Topic: Quantitative and Qualitative Literature:Single Study Comparison

Order Description Focus of the Paper: The focus of this paper is compare two single study articles. One article should focus on quantitative data while the other focuses on qualitative data. What is a Single Study article? A single study focuses on a single topic of interest. The authors may be interested in Comparing whether diabetic patients respond better to treatment A (pharmacologic intervention) or treatment B (pharmacologic and nutritional intervention) over a 6 month time frame by measuring Blood glucose levels, weight, Hemoglobin A1c, etc. This example would be quantitative in nature. A qualitative single study might focus on the quality of life the diabetic patient has after having met with a diabetic peer group once every month to discuss their treatment, health, etc. through the use of a Quality of Life Assessment tool at 3, 6, and 9 months after the peer group meetings started. In the examples, you can see that they are not targeting the exact same issue, but they are targeting the same type of patients-Diabetics. Also, you may notice that both are comparing one intervention versus another. The methods section will help you understand whether your study is a single study or multiple study. Single Study Comparison Paper Rubric: 1. Introduction to the paper with thesis statement included. / 1 point 2. Discuss how and why the 2 articles were chosen on your current or future phenomenon of interest or population setting. Then discuss the specific search strategies used by: (a) identifying the databases used for your searches, (b) key terms used (place key terms in quotes), (c) how many results/hits were initially returned, (d) then how you narrowed results, i.e. MeSH terms, truncation, etc. until you were able to narrow down to your 2 chosen articles. / 4 points 3. Create an Evidence Matrix table to be uploaded in the Appendix of this paper. Include ALL of the articles used for this assignment in your table. Place an asterisk next to the quantitative and qualitative single study articles that were specifically chosen for comparison. See the example below. / 4 points 4. Discuss the tool used and score given (based on your self-assessment) for the level of evidence and grade of recommendation for the 2 articles chosen. Provide a rationale for the level of evidence and grade of recommendation score given to each article. Explain what value the level of evidence and grade of recommendation provides to you in your Advanced Practice Nurse role. /4 points 5. Explain in detail the applicability of the findings of each article to your identified practice by reflecting on why change is needed and how the change will impact (a minimum of 2) bioethical principles such as beneficence, non-maleficence, distributive justice, etc. Bold bio-ethical principles discussed. If you do not feel the changes are applicable, then provide a rationale why and how they could be more applicable based on different variables i.e. in an ICU or with a different sub-set of patients. / 4 points 6. Identify an appropriate Evidenced Based Practice Model (EBPM) and discuss the integration of the EBPM by detailing how it would be effective in the implementation process for change. /2 points 7. Conclusion which should summarize the paper. No new information should be included in the conclusion. /1 point Maximum page limit: 5-6 pages excluding title page, references, turnitin report, appendix and articles. 8.
